WeAreEquals – professional development in the new music sector

Arts & Parts specialises in the development of musicians at all stages of careers via mentoring and formal programmes, and in March 2023 we headed to Madrid to facilitate the WeAreEquals programme for the British Council, working in collaboration with the Fundación Juan March and the British Embassy in Madrid.

WeAreEquals aims to promote interactivity, sustainability and long-term relationships and has been established to support the sharing of knowledge, learning and exchange of experiences between those working in contemporary classical music in Spain and the UK.

Arts & Parts was invited to curate two days’ of activities for musicians working in this exciting area of music, and our associate Katrina Duncan facilitated the programme which included talks and workshops with Indy Vidyalankara (Indypendent PR founder & Diversity Consultant), Kate Whitley (cultural entrepreneur, Multi-Story Orchestra | composer & pianist), Philip Venables (composer & collaborator) and Sheku Kanneh-Mason (cellist & composer).

We thank Cristina Ward, Head of Arts, British Council Spain, for inviting us to deliver this edition of WeAreEquals, and look forward to seeing how this programme and the participants, will develop in the future.
